COUGH REMEDY

A healthy Concoction to ward off the colds

A few weeks ago at the Farmer's Market, a friend came over to our table and talked about how she likes Malak's honey, and how she buys it regularly. She said she uses it for many purposes, not just as a sweetener, but among other uses as a concoction for the colds.  Here is our spiked up version of a great recipe.

Pour a jar of Malak's honey into a glass bottle and add the following:

  • 3 or 4 cloves of garlic cut very small or crushed
  • a small piece of fresh ginger, cut very small

  • one lemon, sliced thinly
  • a few leaves of guava

Shake the jar very well and let infuse for a few days. Remember to shake several times a day to allow the flavors to blend well.

Take a teaspoonful every day, preferably in the morning as a preventative measure against colds or infections. Its taste is wonderful and its benefits innumerable:

The garlic is a good anti-oxidant, and detox agent

Ginger is antimicrobial and anti inflammatory

Lemon and honey ease a cough and soothe a sore throat

The guava leaves fight sore throats, and mouth sores and much more.
