The Slice
October 2012 Issue

What's New This Month...

Dates: come in different colors, shapes and tastes. We are continuing to dry the different varieties. In addition, we have produced pressed date blocks or 3agwa, which are pitted dates dried in our tunnel and formed into a block, then wrapped in two sizes. 3agwa is delicious with eggs sunny side up and in baking. Just break a piece off and cook with it or eat it.
Kiwi: is back in stock. Kiwi was such a hit last season, and you have asked for it often. Don't miss out this time around.
Herbs and spices: we have a stock of sage, lemon grass, rosemary, lavender, bay leaves, chives, hot chilies, green and red for the courageous. They are all dried using solar energy, which keeps in the flavors and oils.

Did You Know That:

Lemon Grass has many benefits and makes a great tasting tea? A cup of lemon grass tea before bedtime will ensure a good night’s sleep, will relieve indigestion, ease flatulence and will help alleviate ailments of arthritis, gout and fever.

You can find Minnie’s Dried Fruits & Vegetables every Saturday at the Nun Center Farmer’s Market from 10 am to 2pm? Nun Center is at 4, Shafik Mansor St. in Zamalek, across the Guezira Club children’s gate.
